Pension Insurance – Apply for pension information and a statement of account
Whether you are in employment, currently self-employed, unemployed or on sick leave – over the course of your life, various periods relevant to your pension entitlements will accumulate. The German Pension Insurance Scheme records these in your insurance account. You can view the data stored there at any time. To do so, your pension insurance provider will send you a statement of your insurance history.
A complete and up-to-date insurance account forms the basis for accurate pension advice and information.
If the data stored is incomplete or incorrect, you must have your insurance account corrected. To do this, you must submit an application for account clarification. You can apply for account clarification at any time without giving a reason.
Only if your insurance record is complete and accurate can the amount of your future pension be calculated correctly.

Prerequisite
There must be pensionable periods (for example, periods of contribution based on employment) recorded in the insurance account.
Procedure
You can request your insurance history informally. Your relevant pension insurance provider will then send you your current insurance history.
This request can be made in writing, by telephone via the helpline on 0800 1000 480 70, or online . Here, you can request a current insurance history, a pension statement or information on any gaps in your insurance record.
If you notice any gaps or periods of non-contribution in your insurance record, you can submit an electronic application for a clarification of your insurance record. You can find the application form in the ‘Insurance’ section of the German Pension Insurance online services.
You can also obtain this application form separately, either from your nearest German Pension Insurance Baden-Württemberg information and advice centre or from your local council.
An insurance history will be sent to you with your first pension statement from your 27th birthday onwards. To qualify, you simply need to have five years of contributions.
Once you have reached the age of 43, your pension insurance provider will automatically send you a further insurance history statement so that you can check the periods recorded. You will then receive an insurance history statement every six years.
It may also be necessary to clarify your pension account at other times, for example if the German Pension Insurance is requested by family courts, as part of divorce proceedings involving pension rights equalisation, to provide information on the pension entitlements acquired during the marriage.
Insured persons are contacted at regular intervals and asked to check the details in their insurance account. Along with the letter, insured persons receive an access code. This enables them to reply to the letter online. The access code is valid only once for this reply and expires after 6 months at the latest.
Through the German Pension Insurance scheme, you can request this information and, if necessary, submit an application for a statement of account online. To do this, you must enter your insurance number. The documents will then be sent to you by post.
To access your data online, you will need a signature card or an identity card with electronic identification (eID).

When completing the forms, you can seek assistance not only from the regional centres and information and advice centres of the German Pension Insurance Scheme in Baden-Württemberg, but also from volunteer insurance advisers and your local council or municipal administration.
Please have your insurance number to hand whenever you contact your pension insurance provider. This applies to all forms of contact, whether in writing, by telephone or online. This will enable the case handler to process your insurance matter more quickly.
If you have already submitted a pension application and noticed that there are still gaps in your insurance record, you can submit the missing documents to your pension insurance provider or present them to your local council. You can also enclose copies of the documents with your written application. Original documents or certified copies are only required if these have been expressly requested.
A confirmation for pension purposes is available free of charge from your local council.
Following an account clarification procedure, insured persons receive a notice of assessment, a current insurance history and information on the qualifying period or pension entitlement. The notice of assessment definitively establishes all data dating back more than six calendar years.
